In Blackjack, the dealer has a set of rules that they must follow, regardless of the player's actions. These rules are designed to ensure a fair and consistent game for all players.
Hitting and Standing
- The dealer must always hit on a hand of 16 or less.
- The dealer must always stand on a hand of 17 or more.
Doubling Down
- The dealer is not allowed to double down.
Splitting Pairs
- The dealer is not allowed to split pairs.
Surrendering
- The dealer is not allowed to surrender.
Insurance
- The dealer does not offer insurance to players.
Other Dealer Rules
- The dealer must deal cards from a shoe that contains at least 4 decks of cards.
- The dealer must shuffle the shoe after each round.
- The dealer must burn the top card of the deck before each round.
- The dealer must pay out winnings to players who beat their hand.
- The dealer must collect the stakes of players who lose their hand.
Exceptions to Dealer Rules
In some variations of Blackjack, the dealer may have slightly different rules. For example, in some games, the dealer may be allowed to hit on a hand of 17 or may be allowed to offer insurance to players. However, the basic rules outlined above are the most common and are used in the majority of Blackjack games.
